Ms Paloma Sanchez attended 2024 CIBJO Congress as a CIBJO delegate - November 2024

The 2024 CIBJO (The World Jewellery Confederation) Congress is held in Shanghai on November 2-4. The congress, jointly hosted by CIBJO, Donghao Lansheng Group, and Diamonds & Gems Administration of China, and organized by the China Gems & Jade Exchange, attracted jewelry industry leaders, experts, and scholars worldwide.

As a CIBJO Delegate, Ms. Paloma Sanchez, GIA Gemologist (Gemological Institute of America), ICA member (International Colored Stones Association), and NCDIA member (Natural Color Diamond Association), attended the Congress where the future of the mining, precious metals, gemstones, and jewelry is discussed and ruled. With a special interest in sustainability and accurate gem certification, both of which are Ms. Paloma's areas of expertise, the CIBJO Congress leads the industry.

The World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO), established in 1926, is the oldest and most prominent international jewelry, gemstones, and precious metals association, and it is the only jewelry industry organization granted official consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. Its members include industry organizations and leading companies from over 45 countries.

CIBJO Congress serves as the official gathering place for the World Jewellery Confederation’s assembly of delegates, and also the venue for the annual meetings of CIBJO’s sector commissions, where amendments can be introduced to the organization’s definitive directories of international industry standards for diamonds, colored stones, pearls, gem labs, precious metals, coral and responsible sourcing, known as the Blue Books. New consensus was reached, and these findings will be published in the forthcoming revision of the "Blue Books."
