The 2020 World Pearl Development Conference - November 2020

The 2020 World Pearl Development Conference was successfully held in Shanhahu Town, Zhuji City. As a high-level global industry event, the 2020 World Pearl Congress showcased the beautiful image of the pearl city through a series of activities. As one of the world's best designers, Paloma Sanchez was honored to be invited to participate in the 2020 World Pearl event and to serve as one of the judges. The three-day conference attracted numerous experts and designers in the field of pearls from both home and abroad, aiming to discuss the combination of Oriental Pearls and fashionable art, and to present a jewelry feast.

Paloma Sanchez shares the importance of design in the new pearl jewelry.

“The importance of reinventing pearl jewelry through design and the incorporation of Chinese freshwater pearls as one of the big players. New designs aim to attract a young clientele: baroque pearls and the unlimited design possibilities.”

Pearls have always been one of the most appreciated gems in history. However, nowadays, young people associate pearl jewelry with "grandmothers’ jewelry." This perception arises because pearl jewelry has remained largely unchanged, relying solely on traditional designs.

Current pearl jewelry often focuses solely on the quality of the pearl, neglecting the importance of innovative design. Today’s jewelry and luxury consumers have different interests: they are more confident and wish to express their uniqueness. Therefore, they seek jewelry that represents their personality and lifestyle, and this can only be accomplished through design.

The 2020 Shanxia Lake International Pearl Jewelry Creative Design Competition, one of the activities of the 2020 World Pearl Conference, was successfully completed thanks to the efforts of all parties involved.

Ms. Paloma Sanchez said, "It is an honor to be one of the judges of the 2020 China International Pearl Jewelry Design Contest. The great designs made the decision of choosing the best one very difficult."
