Exclusive Dinner at the Embassy of Spain to Commemorate Paloma Sanchez, The Art of Jewelry 10th Anniversary - December 2018
On the evening of December 6th 2018, a very private and exclusive dinner was held at the Embassy of Spain, hosted by newly appointed Ambassador, HE Mr Rafael Descallar. The event was to commemorate Paloma Sanchez, The Art of Jewelry 10th Anniversary and all invited VIP guests were all Paloma’s longtime friends and customers.
A native Spanish, the founder and creative director, Paloma Sanchez followed her passion and established her own brand on December 28th, 2008, after pursuing a successful career in the luxury industry working for Carrera y Carrera, Hublot, Cuervo & Sobrinos, and Patek Philippe.
Within these ten years, Paloma has traveled for unique stones to the mines of Arizona in the U.S., as well as to Vietnam, Colombia, Myanmar, Morocco, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, and Madagascar, among others.
Paloma Sanchez, The Art of Jewelry, opened its doors in Beijing, and from Beijing to Dubai and from Dubai to Paris, the brand’s journey has taken its exclusive creations internationally to Vancouver, Toronto, Paris, Dubai, and Seville. In Seville, Paloma’s innovative show at GEMASOLAR, the award-winning largest solar energy plant in Europe, positioned her brand as the first jewelry name ever to raise awareness and promote sustainability.
Paloma Sanchez has won multiple recognitions internationally, including being awarded as one of the 30 Best Jewelry Designers at the prestigious Baselworld Watch and Jewelry Fair in Switzerland. She has been featured in the Mercedes-Benz (2016-2017) and Louis Vuitton (2013) Beijing Guides and has received Business & Entrepreneurial Excellence recognition by the PRC in Spain through Cátedra China in 2017. She is also an esteemed member of the Natural Color Diamond Association.
In line with Paloma’s social goal of women empowerment, she, together with her Ethiopian partner Mrs. Banchialen Maru, opened a gem-cutting factory in Addis Ababa in 2016. This initiative aims to help less privileged local women by providing them with equal educational opportunities and dignifying jobs in the gem industry.
With these great achievements, Paloma Sanchez was warmly greeted by the country’s Ambassador in China- HE Mr Rafael Descallar, also for her contribution to the friendship between Spain and China.
The music performed by Chinese Mongolian morinhuur player Hasibagen, famous for his original ecological music, amazed guests and garnered great applause.
The dinner was served with traditional Spanish cuisine and wine.
